Research results published in the March issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research has highlighted the negative relationship between our alcohol consumption and our ability to build rapport.
Research showed that recognition of emotional facial expressions (EFE), a key form of non-verbal communication is lacking among alcoholics.
Indeed new findings show continuing EFE decoding deficits among alcoholics even after three months of abstinence. Furthermore those who had the highest deficits were the most likely to relapse after the treatment.
