Happy Valentines Day.
I wonder whether or not personal development has anything to do with attracting your soulmate?
Note soulmate = soul and mate, two key ingredients for a successful relationship.
About thirteen years ago, I remember a young successful self made business woman was attracting my eye. Having heard through the grapevine that she had just parted ways with her boyfriend, I decided to "coincidentally" turn up at her place of work.
She explained to me "unedited" that after a long time with her ex, she decided to call it a day adding, "I controlled him, now I have got rid of him."
Today her utterances appear very harsh, but at that time, they didn't register on the emotional scale atall!
I asked her what type of guy she would like to date now, trying to get her to look my way, as it were! She declared "someone I can control" and looked away.
Remember she had controlled her ex, and the relationship ended, nonetheless now she was choosing to take the insane route - a journey where you keep doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result!
Why do I tell this story? Well at the time, all those years ago, I was attracted to my mirror image in a dress - well actually power suit! She was very successful, unemotional, stressed out, careeer focused and so on.
Remember not just in work, in relationships as well; people like each other that are like each other.
But opposite attract ...I hear you scream!
Not opposite in term of self esteem. Yes an extrovert may successfully date an introvert, but both would have very similar levels of self esteem.
You won't see a very confident person, attracted to someone negative and vica versa.
So what is the message this Valentines day - work on yourself, highlight and disempower your limiting beliefs...... and you will end up in the fairytale which you truly deserve.
Dare to dream.....commit to the journey today.
