In 1953. an indepth study was undertaken amongst final year students in Yale University. The research showed that ten per cent of the sample had goals - four per cent had went one step forward and completed the psychological contract - they had written them down.
Twenty years later, they re-interviewed the "students" on the various topics. On this occassion, it was found that the four per cent who had written goals rated higher on all life style indicators than the other ninety six per cent; including the four per cent were worth more in financial terms than the combined ninety six per cent, achieved greater balance in their life, made a more significant contribution to their community, and so on...
