Looking Ahead and Living Now!

Looking Ahead and Living Now is a nationally accredited Transition Year modulated course that focuses on Personal Development, Emotional Intelligence, Leadership and Motivation.

Target Audience :

• Departments of Education - Worldwide.
• Third Level Institutions
• Second Level Schools
• Youth Groups

Module duration:

One class a week for the academic year. Each module is presented in class by a nominated teacher who has attended the training sessions.

Aims:

On completion of all modules of Looking Ahead and Living Now students will have:

• Sharpened their rapport skills -- their ability to communicate --, which will have a dramatic positive effect on all aspects of their lives.
• Improved their problem-solving abilities, which will help them overcome life's different crises. Boosted their self confidence, which will help them to more effectively deal with peer pressure, bullying and negative thoughts and/or self-image
• Developed an understanding of how to break through self-imposed obstacles.
• Set goals for all aspects of their lives in the future
• Taken the first step in designing the lives they desire

As a result, the students' self-esteem will be boosted by their experiences in the class. They will leave with a feeling that happy fulfilled lives are a possibility if they so choose.

Objectives:

Looking Ahead and Living Now provides students with:

• A rich understanding of how we all operate as individuals.
• Awareness of the eight assumptions about human behaviour -- and many tips based on the assumptions
• Improved rapport, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Increased skills for dealing with any crisis.
• Enhanced knowledge on why they act the way they do.
• The ability to make more positive choices.
• The insight to explore the major influences in their live
• The tools to redesign their own personal 'software' to help them survive and thrive in the real world.
• The ability to make confident, professional presentations.
• A good working knowledge of the dynamics of working effectively, either as part of a team or alone in self-employment.
• Recognition of the fundamental importance of goal-setting in all aspect of life and a written commitment to their own future success
• An appreciation of their own core values and interests
• An understanding of the importance of balance and clarity
• Inspiration and encouragement from examples taken from their own lives

Teaching and Learning Strategies:

Each teacher trained in the Looking Ahead and Living Now System creates an Action Learning experience that honours all learning styles, including the visual, auditory and kinesthetic.

Students complete written exercises and role-plays, both individually and in teams. Presentations by students, debates, discussions, research for final paper, interaction, visualisation exercises and background music all feature during each module and students are fully engaged and involved at all times.
