Looking Ahead and Living Now!

Looking Ahead and Living Now is a nationally accredited Transition Year module that focuses on personal development/Leadership and motivation.

Target Audience :

  • Departments of Education - Worldwide.
  • Third Level Institutions
  • Second Level Schools
  • Youth Groups
  • Sponsors Worldwide who are looking to make a real impact in their communities.

Module duration:

One class a week for the year. The module is taught in class by nominated teacher who must attend training sessions.

Aims:

At the end of this module students will have:

  • Sharpened their rapport skills -- their ability to communicate -- which will have a dramatic positive effect on all aspects of their lives.
  • Improved their problem-solving ability, which will help them overcome life's different crises. In addition to the confidence building segments of the course, this will help students to more effectively deal with peer pressure, bullying and negative thoughts, for example:
    • An understanding of how to break through self-imposed obstacles.
    • Set goals for all aspects of their lives in the future. In essence they will have taken the first step in designing the lives they desire
  • Finally, the students' self-esteem will be boosted by their experiences in the class. They will leave with a feeling that happy fulfilled lives are a possibility if they so choose.

Objectives:

At the end of this module students will:

  • Have a rich understanding of how we operate as individuals. They will learn eight assumptions they can make about human behaviour -- and many tips based on the assumptions -- which will help them to dramatically improve their rapport and problem-solving skills. This will have a positive impact on how they deal with crises in the future.
  • Have dramatically enhanced their knowledge on why they act the way they do. They will be shown the way to choose differently and more positively in the future. In this section, they will explore the major influences in their live and be shown how to redesign their own personal 'software' to help them survive and thrive in the real world.
  • Be inspired by examples taken from their own life, which will show they had a winning life strategy in the past.
  • Be able to make professional presentations.
  • Understand the dynamics either working effectively as part of a team or alone in self-employment.
  • Take the first and, most often, the most important step by setting goals in all aspects of their lives. This is their first written commitment. At the least, they will know the exact dynamics behind successful goal setting. In this segment they will explore their values and interests, and the reasons why they want to achieve their goals. They will understand the importance of balance in their lives, clarity in their desires, and breaking down their dreams into manageable steps. Most importantly, they will be taking the first step.

Teaching and Learning Strategies:

The teacher will create an Action Learning experience that will honour all learning styles, including the visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Students will complete many written exercises and role-play, both individually and in teams. Presentations by students, debates, discussions, research for final paper, role-play, visualisation exercises and background music will all feature during the class.

Resources:

Teachers will be supplied with copies of Best Selling Publications, Syllabus, ongoing updates by email and twenty four hour support throughout the module duration.
